Back in August 2016 we published the story of Club Class members being contacted by Gr8stays, that their membership had been transferred to this new club.

In another twist to this, readers have been contacting Inside Timeshare with some disturbing news, these include “Final Demands” for arrears of membership fees. The implication of the letters are that these ex members are contractually bound to pay the annual fees, that they are now in arrears. Although they do not actually say it, the implied threat is that legal action will follow, one reader an elderly lady was understandably frightened by this and contacted us.

Other readers have also informed us of the same tactics, one reader has also been told that his Sapphire membership can be sold for an amazing £10,000!!  A fantastic price for something that is basically worthless. The only catch is that you have to pay them £895 to do it. Below is a paragraph from their own terms and conditions point 7 of Liability.

  1. Gr8stays is a discount holiday and lifestyle membership. It is not an asset and has no true financial value. Though a membership holder can attempt to sell their membership privately, the club does not endorse any resale schemes or other such marketing opportunities.

So it is a “Discount Holiday and Lifestyle Membership”, exactly the same as Club Class and they even admit it is worthless!

Remember Club Class was closed down by the Department for Business Innovations and Skills back in 2012 and was replaced by Leisure Alliance, then replace by Gr8stays.

In the last article we also published a recording of a telephone call we received from another elderly lady, from one of their operators. It was extremely rude and threatening, the idiot on the phone obviously has no manners or education. (see link to original article)

All we can say is do not fall for this ploy, they have no legal right to chase you for arrears which do not exist, they also have no right to say your membership has been transferred to Gr8stays if you have not given permission.

If you have had any emails, letters or phone calls of this nature, contact Inside Timeshare so we can inform others of this.
